Fire breaks out in train at Kamalapur

A fire has been set in a bogie of a passenger train standing on the platform at Kamalapur Railway Station of the capital. The incident occurred on platform No 2 of the station around 9:30pm on Sunday (September 20). After getting the news two units of the Fire Service went to the spot and started working to control the fire.

Eyewitnesses informed that fire was suddenly seen burning in a bogie of the train standing on the platform. Instantly the flame of the fire increased and spread throughout the entire bogie. The surroundings of the platform got covered with dense smoke. At this time panic appeared among the passengers present at the station.

Duty officer of the Fire Service headquarters Md Shahjahan informed that it has been initially learnt that someone or some people set fire in a bogie of a train standing on platform No 2. Two units of the Fire Service are working to control the fire. Detailed information regarding the origin of the fire and the damage will be known later.

In the situation of the spot it is seen that along with the fire-affected bogie there were also the other bogies of the train. The apprehension of the fire spreading to the adjacent bogie was created. Security has been strengthened in the station area over this incident.

After getting the news of the fire the railway police, members on security duty and officers of various intelligence agencies reached the spot. Who are involved in the incident of setting the fire and how they set fire in the bogie of the train is being examined.

Earlier consecutive two cocktail explosions occurred in a deserted part of platform No 2 of the same station around 10:30pm on Saturday (September 19). Police had informed that no one was killed or injured in that incident. In a video the scene of two explosions within a short time beside the train standing on the platform is seen.

New concern has been created over the security of Kamalapur Railway Station due to these incidents of consecutive two days. However no information of any casualty has been found so far in the fire incident of Sunday. The amount of damage and the detailed reason of the incident will be known after the fire comes under full control.
