The government has taken a crucial administrative decision to ensure internal law and order, border security, emergency firefighting and safe movement of prisoners. From now on, vehicles of all emergency services including Bangladesh Police, BGB, Fire Service and Prisons Directorate will be able to collect fuel on a priority basis from any petrol pump across the country.

The directive was issued on April 15, signed by Ministry of Home Affairs Deputy Secretary Md Hafiz-Al-Asad. The ministry confirmed the information on Saturday, April 18.

The directive states that prisons require vehicles for various emergency needs including prisoner transfers at any time of day or night, sending sick prisoners to hospitals, and official duties.

Similarly, it is essential to keep vehicles of law enforcement agencies operational at all times to maintain internal law and order, conduct border patrols and various special operations.

In this context, the Ministry of Home Affairs has requested the concerned authorities to instruct all petrol pumps across the country to ensure priority fuel supply to vehicles of the Police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Coast Guard, Fire Service and Civil Defence, Department of Narcotics Control, and Prisons Directorate.
