Fire Service should be made accountable institution: DG

The Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Department, Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal, has called for the Department to be made a transparent, accountable and genuine service-giving institution.

He made this call at a program organized at the Fire Service Headquarters to mark International Firefighters Day on Mondaymorning (May 4).

In the first part of the program, the Director General received the darbar. Later, in the second part, 80 officers and employees selected from different parts of the country were given professional honors and 73 children of officers who obtained GPA-5 in the 2025 SSC and HSC examinations were given educational honors.

The Director General said that various developmental steps have been taken to make the activities of the Fire Service more modern and effective. He called on everyone to cooperate with the recently launched e-fire license program.

He also said that the future recruitment process will be completed with complete transparency and everyone concerned must cooperate in this regard.

Expressing satisfaction with the quick response and rescue operations of the Fire Service across the country, he sincerely thanked all the members. He also urged everyone to be more responsible to maintain the reputation of the organization.

The program was attended by senior officials of the department, project directors, managing directors of the Welfare Trust, and officials and employees working in Dhaka. In addition, divisional and district level officials were connected online.
