First budget session of new government begins
The second session, or budget session, of the 13th National Parliament began on Sunday afternoon, June 7, with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed presiding. This marks the first budget session of the new government.
The session began at 3:00 pm at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. President Md Sahabuddin has summoned the session under Article 72(1) of the Constitution.
The national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year will be presented and passed during this session. The budget session is held every year in June for discussions on the national budget. In the upcoming session, the new fiscal year's budget will be presented as a reflection of the current government's development targets and economic plans, with MPs participating in detailed discussions.
The first session of the 13th National Parliament began on March 12 and concluded on April 30.
