First Hajj flight carrying 419 pilgrims lands in Saudi Arabia

The first Hajj flight from Bangladesh has arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, carrying 419 pilgrims.

The flight, operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, marked the beginning of this year’s Hajj operations.

According to a statement issued on Friday (April 18) by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, all the pilgrims were warmly received at the airport by officials, including Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Md Delwar Hossain and Hajj Counsellor Md Kamrul Islam.

Upon arrival, pilgrims were greeted with flowers and provided with refreshment kits.

Several officials and representatives from the Bangladeshi mission in Jeddah and Saudi Hajj service organisations were present during the reception.

Others attending the welcome ceremony included senior officials from the Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah and representatives of Saudi Hajj service provider Nusuk Marhaba.

The Hajj flight operations were formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman late Thursday night at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
