The day-long observance of ‘July Mass Uprising Day’ began today, Tuesday marking the anniversary of the historic July uprising. As part of the event, the first phase of the much-anticipated ‘July Declaration’ programme is set to commence shortly at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.

At 5 PM, the declaration will be formally read out by the chief adviser of the event. Organizers say the declaration will emphasize the resistance of the youth, the revival of cultural identity, and propose a framework for a just governance system.

This programme is being held to commemorate one year since the July uprising and has already drawn significant public attendance. Preparations are in the final stages as the day’s first program gets underway.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, with the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy managing operations. The National Parliament Secretariat is providing overall support. The programme will open with Islamic musical performances followed by cultural acts from Kolrob Shilpigoshthi, Nahid Islam, Tashfi, Chittagong Hip Hop Hood, Sejan, Shunno Band, Sayan, Ithun Babu, Moushumi, Souls, and Warfaze.

At 2:25 PM, a special segment titled ‘Moment of the Fascist’s Escape’ will be celebrated. The festivities will continue with performances by popular bands, delighting concert-goers. At 5:30 PM, the Basic Guitar Learning School will take the stage, followed by evening performances from F Minor, Parsha, and Elita Karim.

The highlight of the evening is scheduled to begin at 6:50 PM after the Maghrib prayer break, featuring an innovative drone drama and a spectacular drone light show. After 8 PM, the sky over Manik Mia Avenue will light up with hundreds of drones. The evening will conclude with a live performance by the popular band Artcell.

Political interest among attendees is high, especially surrounding the formal announcement of the ‘July Declaration’ first phase at 5 PM. Organizers have described the declaration as a pioneering socio-political manifesto that will give concrete form to the ideals of the July uprising.

Strict security measures are in place to ensure smooth proceedings. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed traffic restrictions, closing all vehicular movement from Khejur Bagan Crossing to the western end of Manik Mia Avenue. Alternative routes have been advised, with diversions at Arong Crossing, Khejur Bagan, Farmgate, Ganabhaban Crossing, and Syed Mahbub Morshed Road. Visitor parking is arranged at the old trade fair grounds in Agargaon.
