First session of 13th Parliament to continue until April 30

The first session of the 13th National Parliament will continue until April 30. The decision was made at the first meeting of the Parliamentary Business Advisory Committee on Saturday afternoon, March 14. This information was shared in a notification from the Parliament Secretariat after the meeting.

The notification stated that discussions were held regarding time allocation for completing the agenda of the first session (first session of 2026) of the 13th Parliament and the duration of the session. A decision was taken to hold a total of 50 hours of discussion on the President's address.

Additionally, except for government holidays, parliamentary sessions will begin daily at 3:00 pm, and the first session will conclude on April 30. However, the Speaker will have the authority to change session times and working days as needed.

The Business Advisory Committee meeting, held in the Cabinet Room of the National Parliament Building, was presided over by Speaker of the National Parliament Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram). Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended as a committee member.

It has been reported that a total of 468 questions have been submitted for the current session, including eight for the Prime Minister and 460 for other ministers. Additionally, 27 notices have been received under Rule 71 (motions for attention), and 97 resolutions have been submitted under Rule 131.

Also present at the meeting were committee members including Leader of the Opposition Md Shafiqur Rahman, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, A T M Azharul Islam, and Opposition Chief Whip Md Nahid Islam among others.
