Five Additional IGPs sent into forced retirement
The government has placed five senior officers of the Bangladesh Police holding the rank of additional inspector general (Addl IGP) on compulsory retirement.
The decision was announced through separate notifications issued by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday (March 9).
The officials sent into retirement are Abu Hasan Muhammad Tariq, Mohd Abdul Alim Mahmud, Md Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Kusum Dewan (Naval), and Md Toufiq Mahbub Chowdhury.
The notifications, signed by Senior Secretary Manzur Morshed Chowdhury, said the officers were retired in the public interest under Section 45 of the Government Service Act 2018.
According to the provision, the government may retire a public servant after 25 years of service without assigning any reason if deemed necessary in the public interest.
The officials will be entitled to all retirement benefits in accordance with existing rules.
