Bangladesh is set to receive at least five liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cargo vessels by April 15 as imports are ramped up to stabilise the country’s energy supply situation.

According to the Chittagong Port Authority and shipping sources, the scheduled shipments include LPG and LNG consignments from Malaysia, the United States, and Australia.

On April 10, the LPG carrier Morning Jelly (2,470 tonnes) from Malaysia and the LNG vessel EMEI (about 69,000 tonnes) from the United States are expected to arrive. Another LNG carrier, Kongtong, is scheduled to arrive on April 11.

On April 13, LPG vessel Pol will arrive from Malaysia, followed by LNG carrier Maran Gas Hydra from Australia on April 15 with around 64,678 tonnes of LNG.

Officials said berthing priority has been given to fuel shipments to ensure uninterrupted supply. A total of nine LNG cargoes are expected this month, with two already delivered, while eight LNG shipments were received in March, totaling around 600,000 tonnes.

Authorities said the continued import flow is expected to help stabilize gas supply for both industrial and residential users.
