Five more children die with measles symptoms as total death toll reaches 793

Five more children have died with measles symptoms in the country over the last 24 hours, though no deaths from confirmed cases of measles were reported during this period.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control room disclosed the information in a press release issued on Monday (July 20).

According to the DGHS, a total of 698 people have died with measles symptoms, and 95 others have died from confirmed cases of measles between 15 March and 20 July. With these latest figures, the total death toll during this period has risen to 793.

The press release further stated that 922 new suspected measles patients were identified in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of suspected cases to 118,570 since 15 March.

Meanwhile, 147 individuals tested positive for measles during this 24-hour window, raising the total number of confirmed measles cases to 14,578 since 15 March.

DGHS data also revealed that a total of 101,026 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals between 15 March and July 20. Among them, 97,532 patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals after completing their treatment.
