Five more deaths from measles symptoms, total fatalities 1053

The Directorate General of Health Services has reported that five more persons have died from measles and measles symptoms in the last 24 hours in the country. With this the number of deaths from measles and measles symptoms across the country from March 15 of the current year till now has risen to 1,053. In the same period measles and its symptoms have been detected in the bodies of 1,020 new persons.

These information have been given in the regular measles-related report of the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday (September 19).

According to the information of the Directorate General of Health Services, 101 persons have so far died after being confirmed infected with measles this year. And 952 persons have died with measles symptoms.

The report said from March 15 till now 1,78,666 persons have been identified as suspected measles cases in the country. In the same period measles has been confirmed in 20,474 persons.

Besides, 1,57,556 persons have been admitted to various hospitals of the country with measles symptoms during this period. Among them 1,51,395 persons have recovered after treatment and returned home.
