Five more flights cancelled at Shah Amanat Airport
The Middle East war has intensified, significantly impacting flight operations at Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport. Five more international flights were cancelled at this airport in the last 24 hours, causing extreme hardship for passengers heading to and returning from the Middle East.
This information was provided in a press release sent from the airport's public relations wing at 11:30 pm on Sunday night.
According to the release, the following flights were cancelled on Sunday due to the war situation: Biman Bangladesh Airlines: one arrival flight from the Middle East. US-Bangla Airlines: two flights (one arrival and one departure) to and from the Middle East. Air Arabia: two flights (one arrival and one departure) also cancelled.
Despite the disruptions, six arrival and six departure international flights on Middle East routes, totalling 12, remained operational on Sunday.
However, flights on Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi routes operated by Salam Air, Air Arabia and US-Bangla Airlines remain stalled, with operations on these routes virtually suspended.
Shah Amanat International Airport Public Relations Officer Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil said flight disruptions began on February 28 due to the ongoing war situation in the Middle East. A total of 167 international flights have been cancelled from this airport, including the five on Sunday.
