Five-member parliament secretariat commission formed

A new five-member 'Parliament Secretariat Commission' has been formed to make administrative and policy decisions for the National Parliament Secretariat. The high-level commission has been formed under Section 7 of the Parliament Secretariat Act, 1994, with National Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram appointed as its chairman.

The formation of the commission was announced through a notification signed by Parliament Secretary Barrister Md Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan under the directive of the president.

The decision, issued from the Human Resources Branch-1 of the Parliament Secretariat, has been effective since April 2, as stated in a gazette published by the Government Printing Press.

The commission includes key government figures by virtue of their positions. The members are: Chairman Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram (Honourable Speaker), Member Tarique Rahman (Honourable Prime Minister), Member Md Shafiqur Rahman (Honourable Leader of the Opposition), Member Md Asaduzzaman (Honourable Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs), and Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury (Honourable Finance Minister).

According to the Parliament Secretariat Act, this commission will oversee the administrative operations of the parliament and monitor the secretariat's human resources and structure. The high-level commission has the authority to make final decisions on policy matters of the secretariat.
