Flights from Dhaka to Middle East temporarily suspended
US and Israeli forces have launched military operations in Iran. Tehran has retaliated by attacking American installations and military forces in the Middle East.
In this situation, airlines across various countries have suspended or cancelled flights to destinations in the Middle East. Flights from Dhaka to the Middle East have also been temporarily suspended.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines and US-Bangla Airlines operate flights from Bangladesh to several Middle Eastern destinations.
According to airline sources, a decision was made around 4 pm on Saturday, February 28, to temporarily suspend flights due to the emerging situation. A final decision on flight operations will be made after monitoring the situation for several more hours.
Biman Bangladesh spokesperson Bosra Islam said all flights to the Middle East have been temporarily suspended due to the ongoing war.
US-Bangla Airlines authorities said flights from Dhaka have been temporarily suspended. The situation is being monitored. A flight currently in Dubai is staying there safely.
Civil Aviation Public Relations Officer Kausar Mahmud said Hazrat Shahjalal Airport authorities have been contacted, and flight operations are currently on hold.
Meanwhile, Biman's flight BG349, which was travelling from Dhaka to Dammam, has been instructed to return mid-route.
