Flood death toll rises to 54 in 7 districts, over 6 lakh affected
The death toll from floods caused by continuous rainfall, flash floods and landslides in various parts of the country has risen to 54, with another 39 injured. Over 1,55,311 families are currently marooned and more than 6,09,411 people have been affected across seven districts, according to the latest update from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief on Monday, July 13.
The affected districts are Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Bandarban, Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Moulvibazar and Habiganj. A total of 59 upazilas, 334 unions and 12 municipalities have been hit.
Cox's Bazar reported the highest number of deaths at 31, followed by Chattogram with 13, Bandarban with 6, Rangamati with 3 and Moulvibazar with 1. The government has opened 1,042 shelters, currently housing 38,422 people.
