The government has sent Md. Golam Saklayen, former Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB), to compulsory retirement from government service. He was currently serving as Additional Superintendent of Police at Jhenaidah In-Service Training Centre.

This decision was announced in a notification issued by the Discipline-2 Branch of the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday (18 June). Senior Secretary Manjur Morshed Chowdhury signed the notification on the order of the President.

Earlier, on 13 June 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs sent a letter to the Public Service Commission (PSC) seeking opinion on sending Golam Saklayen to compulsory retirement as ‘major punishment’.

It was mentioned that mobile phone forensic analysis found evidence of Golam Saklayen’s presence at actress Pori Moni’s residence at various times, both day and night. This was considered a breach of departmental discipline, leading to action against him.

Notably, in June 2021, Pori Moni filed a case alleging attempted rape and physical assault at a boat club in Savar. During the investigation of that case, she was called to DB office for questioning, where she came in contact with then DB officer Golam Saklayen.

Subsequently, regular communication developed between them, according to investigation-related sources. Various investigation reports also mention that in August 2021, Pori Moni stayed at Golam Saklayen’s official residence. The matter came into widespread discussion after Pori Moni was arrested by the Department of Narcotics Control on 4 August that year.

After a long administrative process, the decision to send Golam Saklayen to compulsory retirement has finally been implemented.
