Former Chhatra League leader's body found in sack in Narsingdi
Police have recovered the body of a former Chhatra League leader in a sack three days after he went missing in Belabo, Narsingdi.
The body was recovered from a ditch in the Nager Bazar area at around 8pm on January 29, said Belabo police investigation officer Nasir Uddin.
The deceased, Azimul Kader Bhuiyan, 40, was a poultry businessman and son of late Mannan Bhuiyan from Baghber village under Bajnaba union. He was a former general secretary of the union Chhatra League and former joint general secretary of the upazila Chhatra League.
Police, quoting family members, said Azimul Kader went missing after leaving his poultry farm at around 8pm on January 27.
Relatives searched various places but failed to find him and filed a general diary at Belabo police station the following day.
Locals spotted the body in a ditch on January 29 evening and informed police.
Azimul’s nephew Md Umar Faruk said his uncle had recruited two workers at the poultry farm around 15 days before he went missing. One of them was identified as Rubel, while the family does not know the identity of the other worker. Both workers are currently missing, and all chickens at the farm have also disappeared.
Police officer Nasir Uddin said investigations had begun after the general diary was filed. The body has been sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy and efforts are underway to identify those responsible.
