Former joint secretary Syed Joglul Pasha arrested

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) have arrested former joint secretary Syed Joglul Pasha for preparing forged documents and giving false testimony in court regarding the Zia Orphanage Trust case filed against former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

DB Additional Police Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam confirmed the arrest on Wednesday (August 5) afternoon.
According to DB, they received information that Syed Joglul Pasha was returning to Dhaka from Cox's Bazar by air. Surveillance was set up in the airport area and he was arrested around 8:50pm on Tuesday (August 4) .

Sources said Syed Joglul Pasha is an accused in a case filed under the Special Powers Act at Gulshan Police Station, a murder case of Parvez during the anti-discrimination student movement at Jatrabari Police Station, a case related to Operation Eagle Hunt at Shibganj Police Station in Chapainawabganj, and a murder case of BNP leader Altab Hossain at Daulatpur Police Station in Kushtia .

Additionally, he is also connected to a case filed for creating obstruction by placing sand-laden trucks in front of the BNP office in Banani in 2013 .

DB said legal proceedings against the arrested individual are underway .
