Four more children die in 24 hours, measles death toll crosses 700

Four more children have died from measles symptoms in the country over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms since March 15 to 702, according to the latest report published by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday afternoon, June 26.

The report stated that no deaths from confirmed measles were recorded in the last 24 hours (from 8:00 am on Thursday, June 25, to 8:00 am on Friday, June 26), but four children died from suspected measles symptoms.

During the same period, 869 new children showed symptoms of measles, while laboratory tests confirmed 107 new cases.

According to the health directorate's data, 93 children have died from confirmed measles since March 15. Combined, total deaths from measles and suspected measles symptoms have now reached 702.
