Four more children die with measles symptoms in 24 hours
Four more children have died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours from Thursday morning to Friday morning, April 10, according to a health directorate press release. Two deaths occurred in Barishal, one in Mymensingh and one in Sylhet.
A total of 144 children have died with measles symptoms since March 15. Additionally, 8,251 children have been hospitalised. The highest number of child deaths with measles symptoms occurred in Rajshahi division.
At Barishal's Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, two children died in 24 hours. Fourteen patients have now died in the division with or after confirmation of measles.
At Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, three-year-old Abdullah, son of Roni and Arifa Akhter from Jamtala Mor area of the city, was admitted on April 2 with measles symptoms and had other physical complications. He died around 11:30 am on Thursday.
In Sylhet, seven-month-old Dibya died while undergoing treatment at the PICU of MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital around 12:30 pm on Friday. Hospital authorities did not disclose the child's address. Three children have now died with measles symptoms in Sylhet.
