Four more children die with measles symptoms in 24 hours; 1,137 new cases reported
There are no signs of the measles outbreak subsiding in the country. Four more children have died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours. During the same period, a total of 1,137 children were infected with confirmed measles or its symptoms.
The Directorate General of Health Services provided this information in its updated measles situation report published on Sunday (August 2).
According to the report, no child died from confirmed measles in the last 24 hours. However, four children died with measles symptoms. With this, the number of children who have died with measles symptoms since March 15 this year has risen to 748. During the same period, 96 more children have died from confirmed measles. In total, 844 children have died from measles and its symptoms so far.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, 115 children were confirmed to have measles through testing in the last 24 hours. Additionally, 1,022 children sought treatment for measles symptoms. The total number of infections in a single day stood at 1,137. During this period, 946 new children were admitted to hospitals, while 886 were discharged after completing treatment.
According to the latest statistics, the total number of suspected measles cases in the country from March 15 to August 2 has risen to 130,083. Of them, 16,295 have been confirmed through testing.
During this period, a total of 112,620 children have been hospitalised. So far, 108,283 of them have recovered and returned home.
