Four more children die with measles symptoms, over 1,000 infected in 24 hours
Four more children have died from measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,057 children have been infected with measles or suspected symptoms during the same period, according to the latest measles update published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday, June 28.
The report stated that no deaths from confirmed measles were recorded in the last 24 hours, but four children died from suspected measles symptoms.
According to the health directorate's data, a total of 619 children have died from suspected measles symptoms since March 15 this year, while 93 children have died from confirmed measles. Combined, the total number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms has reached 712.
In the last 24 hours, 116 children were confirmed to have measles through laboratory tests, while 941 others were infected with suspected measles symptoms.
During this period, 889 new children were admitted to hospitals, while 865 were discharged after treatment.
Since March 15, a total of 99,207 suspected measles patients have been identified across the country, of which 11,710 have been confirmed through tests.
A total of 82,844 patients have been hospitalised during this period, with 79,152 having recovered and returned home.
