Four more deaths with measles symptoms, 1,349 new patients

The measles infection situation in the country is still concerning. Four people have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours. In the same period, 1,221 people have been newly identified as suspected measles patients. Alongside, 128 more patients have been confirmed as measles infected.

These information have been given in the health news bulletin of the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Integrated Control Centre of the Directorate General of Health Services on Wednesday (September 30).

The bulletin said that the number of suspected measles patients in the country from March 15 to September 30 has stood at 1,91,731. Among them, measles has been confirmed in the bodies of 21,510 so far.

Among the patients identified with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, the highest 466 are from Dhaka division. New suspected patients have also been identified in other divisions of the country.

As part of the regular monitoring of the Directorate General of Health Services, information on suspected and confirmed measles patients is being collected. At the same time, the death incidents with symptoms are also being kept under surveillance.

In the ongoing situation, the health department has been advising to take a doctor’s advice quickly if measles symptoms appear as well as keep the infected person away from contact with others.
