Four more to join Tarique Rahman cabinet, oath-taking today
Four new members are set to join Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s cabinet, with President-elect Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir scheduled to administer their oaths at Bangabhaban on Friday evening (August 21), according to Cabinet Division sources.
The four new cabinet members are BNP Standing Committee member and lawmaker Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, BJP chairman and lawmaker Barrister Andaleeve Rahman, Bandarban lawmaker Sa Ching Prue Jerry and Gaibandha-4 lawmaker Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Lincoln.
The new appointments are also expected to be accompanied by changes in several key ministries, including civil aviation, agriculture, food, power and energy, local government, and information and broadcasting, the sources said.
The oath-taking will take place at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban at 7:30pm, alongside the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected president.
More than 1,200 guests have been invited to the presidential oath-taking ceremony, officials said. The Cabinet Division will oversee the event.
The ceremony will begin with the national anthem and Quran recitation, after which Acting Speaker Kaiser Kamal will administer the oath to the new president.
Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani will conduct the ceremony.
