Four murders in Rangpur: Father-brother of Siddhartha released on bond

The father and brother (Partha Das) of Siddhartha Das—who was arrested in connection with the murder of retired teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, his wife, and their two children in the Mashuapara (Daspara) area of ​​Rangpur city—were taken into Detective Branch (DB) custody for questioning but were subsequently released upon signing a bond.

They were released around 10:30pm on Saturday (August 29).

Earlier in the afternoon on Saturday allegations of disorderly behaviour with several journalists and confining Rangpur correspondent of Khabarer Kagaj Selim Sarkar were raised against Siddhartha’s father, brother and several locals. Later members of Rangpur Metropolitan DB Police arrived at the spot and detained the father and son and took them away.

Confirming these matters Deputy Police Commissioner (Intelligence Division) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Sanatan Chakrabarti told Views Bangladesh that Siddhartha’s father and brother have been released on bond. They had been brought for interrogation. They had been called many times earlier, they did not come. Therefore they had been brought.
