Four new ministers, two state ministers sworn in

Four new members have been added to the cabinet led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. New President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir administered their oaths at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban on Friday, August 21, evening.

The four who took oath are: BNP Standing Committee member and Narsingdi-2 MP Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman and Bhola-1 MP Barrister Andalib Rahman Partho, Bandarban MP Saching Pru Jerry and Gaibandha-4 MP Mohammad Shamim Kayser Lincoln.

Among them, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Andaleeve Rahman Partho, Rashiduzzaman Millat and Saching Pru Jerry took oath as full ministers, while Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Lincoln and Humayun Kabir was sworn in as a state minister.

According to sources, BNP Standing Committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan has been given charge of the Ministry of Local Government, Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho has been made Information Minister, Saching Pru Jerry has been appointed Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, and Mohammad Shamim Kayser Lincoln has been made State Minister for Religious Affairs.

Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was sworn in as the 23rd President of the country at the Durbar Hall at 7:30pm. Acting Speaker Kayser Kamal administered his oath. The swearing-in of the new cabinet members took place immediately after the President's oath.
