Four-member probe committee formed over Nil Sagar Express derailment
The Pakshi Railway Division has formed a four-member investigation committee into the derailment of the Chilahati-bound Nil Sagar Express train that departed from Dhaka, which occurred in Adamdighi, Bogura.
The committee was formed on Wednesday afternoon, March 18, with Pakshi Divisional Mechanical Engineer Moinuddin Sarkar as its convener. The Pakshi Divisional authorities of the Western Railway confirmed the matter.
According to railway sources, the train met with the accident around 2:00 pm in the Bagbari area shortly after passing Santahar Junction. Nine coaches of the Nil Sagar Express were derailed, temporarily disrupting rail communication between Dhaka and the northern region on that route.
The investigation committee has been instructed to submit its report swiftly to determine the cause of the accident and assess the extent of damage.
Ahmed Hossain Masum, Chief Engineer of Bangladesh Railway (Western), said this high-level committee has been formed to investigate whether any negligence or informational errors occurred. The committee includes chief engineers from the Mechanical, Signal and Transportation departments. He stated that every aspect will be thoroughly investigated.
