Free dress, bags, shoes for students starting July: Education Minister
Free dress-bag-shoes will be provided to students in government primary schools of the country from July. However, although these materials were provided to two schools in each upazila in the initial stage, it will be increased in phases, said Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon.
He said these things after a meeting with the country's top businessmen in the inter-ministerial meeting room at the Secretariat on Wednesday morning (April 29).
The Education Minister said, we have already finalized the design of the dress and bag through an expert team and are going to start this program as a pilot project. There is a plan to formally inaugurate this program next July. Initially, we have received a commitment from BGMEA to provide dresses, bags and shoes for one lakh students. Initially, it will start only for primary schools.
He also said that the country's top businessmen have also come forward with this initiative of the government. They will continue to cooperate in the coming days.
Among others, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md. Shariful Alam, State Minister for Culture Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj, Prime Minister's Education Advisor Mahdi Amin were present at the meeting. In addition, Joint Editor of Daily Jugantor BM Jahangir was present on behalf of Jamuna Shilpa Group.
