'Friendly relations with all nations will be upheld by placing Bangladesh's interests at forefront'
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed said that good relations with all countries of the world will be maintained by prioritizing Bangladesh's interests. At the same time, she urged everyone to be vigilant to protect the country's democracy.
She made the remarks while participating in a book launching event at the Poet Shamsur Rahman Auditorium of Bangla Academy on Tuesday (March 10) afternoon.
Shama Obaed said that democracy has been established in Bangladesh after 17 years. During this period, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been the victim of the most torture. She commented that it is important to highlight her life's struggle and political role in front of the country's young generation.
She claimed that whenever democracy in the country is in crisis, Khaleda Zia has come forward with leadership.
Regarding women's empowerment, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs said that women's empowerment has taken another step forward with the inauguration of the 'Family Card' programme.
Noting that democracy is as difficult as it is difficult to achieve, Shama Obaed said that various conspiracies are underway to damage the country's democracy. Therefore, she emphasized on maintaining balanced relations with all countries by prioritizing national interests.
