Fuel pass pilot expanded to 11 more districts beyond Dhaka
The government has expanded the pilot rollout of the QR code-based “Fuel Pass BD” app to 11 additional districts, aiming to bring greater transparency and discipline to the country’s fuel distribution system.
In a statement issued on Saturday (April 18), the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said motorcycle owners in districts beyond Dhaka will now be brought under the digital registration system.
The expanded coverage includes Chandpur, Chattogram and Chattogram Metropolitan, Barishal and Barishal Metropolitan, Khulna and Khulna Metropolitan, Rajshahi and Rajshahi Metropolitan, and Mymensingh.
At the same time, the pilot programme has been extended to 18 more petrol pumps in Dhaka.
Authorities said the initiative will be gradually rolled out nationwide.
Earlier, on April 9, the Energy Division said the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) had introduced the app on a trial basis to ensure discipline at filling stations and modernise fuel supply management.
Currently limited to motorcycles, the system may be expanded to all types of vehicles if the pilot proves successful, with the goal of ensuring efficient fuel distribution and reducing misuse through digital monitoring.
