BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said the fuel oil price was increased slightly in response to public demand and to ensure adequate supply. He made the remarks at an event in Naya Paltan on Monday, April 20.

Rizvi said the government was compelled to raise prices due to global instability, tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, and soaring fuel prices in neighbouring countries. He added that the government did not want to hike prices but was forced by the situation.

On the disappearance of party leader Elias Ali, Rizvi questioned why those involved are not being brought to remand. He also called for amending the 'Disappearance Ordinance' to make it stronger and more effective.
