Fuel supply for Rooppur nuclear plant's second unit begins in October

The supply of nuclear fuel for the second unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is starting from October. The fuel will be sent to Bangladesh in several phases, and the supply process is scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2026.

Russia's state nuclear agency Rosatom conveyed this information in a press release on Monday, September 28.

The agency said the process of sending fuel for the second unit will begin in October. After that, the supply process will continue in various phases throughout December. The necessary fuel supply is expected to be completed by the end of December.

Rosatom's press release stated that the fuel will be transported following the project's stipulated schedule and the terms of the agreement. For this, nuclear fuel will be sent to the Rooppur project on several separate flights.

The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant has two units. Each unit has a power generation capacity of 1,200 megawatts. This fuel supply activity for the second unit is being taken as part of preparations for the next phase of the project.
