Future endeavours will be for changing people's fate: PM
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said future endeavours will be aimed at changing the fate of the people. He made the remarks at an iftar mahfil organised by Jamaat-e-Islami in honour of distinguished personalities at the China-Bangladesh Friendship Conference Centre on Saturday afternoon, February 28.
The Prime Minister said, "Today we have gathered here at an important time. An election was held in the country a few days ago, and through this election, the journey of democracy has begun. The people of Bangladesh have sacrificed their lives unconditionally for over a decade for this democracy, enduring various atrocities, oppression, disappearances and killings. Through so much sacrifice, we have received the opportunity for this journey of democracy that is commencing now."
He said, "I sincerely thank you for inviting me, my leaders and my companions to this iftar mahfil."
Tarique Rahman said, "The people of Bangladesh today are looking towards all of us with many expectations, many aspirations and much hope, especially towards political parties. Today at this iftar mahfil, let us take an oath in the name of Allah that our future endeavours will be for changing the fate of the people of this country."
He said, "Let us seek that mercy from Allah through which He will grant us the ability to work for changing the fate of the people of this country, for changing the fate of this nation."
