Gas supply in Chattogram resumes
Gas supply has resumed in Chattogram, and normal supply is expected to be restored after Saturday (January 20) afternoon.
According to the state-owned natural gas company, supply was initiated from Friday night (January 19). LNG supply through the pipeline started between 10:00PM and 11:00PM. However, the supply is gradually increasing, and it is expected to be normal after Saturday afternoon.
Gas supply in Chattogram and the surrounding areas had been suspended since Friday morning. The Maheshkhali LNG terminal faced difficulties in supplying gas, affecting both Chittagong and adjacent areas as well as reducing gas supply to Dhaka.
Currently, approximately 24 to 25 million cubic feet of gas is supplied daily, with LNG contributing 500 million cubic feet. The temporary halt in LNG supply on Friday led to a severe gas crisis.
