Gas supply is expected to return to normal within the next two to three days, Energy, Power and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said, expressing optimism that the ongoing supply disruptions will soon ease.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Thursday (August 6), Tuku said the current interruption was linked to ongoing freezing operations, which were nearing completion.

He said gas transmission would begin resuming from Thursday afternoon, allowing pressure in the pipeline network to gradually recover in areas experiencing reduced supply.

"As transmission resumes, pipeline pressure will be restored step by step. Once the system stabilises, we will be able to increase gas production and distribution according to demand," he said.

The minister added that it would take two to three days for the network to fully stabilise and return to the level of supply that existed before the disruption.

His remarks come amid widespread complaints from households and industries over low gas pressure and supply shortages in recent days.
