General holiday declared in 3 hill districts for Chaitra Sankranti
The government has declared a general holiday on April 13 in Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban districts on the occasion of Chaitra Sankranti. A notification from the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday, April 5, confirmed the information.
The notification stated that the day will be observed as an optional holiday for the concerned ethnic communities in other parts of the country outside these three hill districts.
Earlier on November 9, 2025, the ministry's rules branch issued a notification determining the list of holidays for government, semi-government, statutory, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions.
