Getting hints of election engineering: Mahdi Amin
BNP's Election Steering Committee spokesperson and the party chairman's advisor, Mahdi Amin, has said he is getting hints of various kinds of election engineering and manipulation in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election.
Mahdi Amin made these remarks during an exchange of views with journalists covering electoral affairs, organised by the BNP's Election Steering Committee at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday, February 4.
He said the election will be held on February 12, God willing. This is extremely important because we have fought for this day for 16 years. The main goal of the 16-year-long struggle and mass uprising was to build a state system where the people would be the source of all political power.
Mahdi said they witnessed the uncontested election of 2014, the midnight election of 2018, and the dummy vote election of 2024—where people's right to vote was hijacked.
He further stated, "We believe in a level playing field. If a free, fair, and acceptable election is ensured, God willing, BNP's victory is certain, the Sheaf of Paddy's victory is certain. Our expectation is that journalists will present the truth impartially."
Praising the journalists, Mahdi Amin said they had exposed the kind of engineering that took place with postal ballots.
He said, "There has been voter migration in many places in Dhaka, there is talk of many kinds of burqa fabrication. Let us all work together for the country against any kind of irregularity and manipulation in the election."
