Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman GM Quader has withdrawn his nomination from the Dhaka-17 constituency. JaPa Office Secretary MA Razzak Khan submitted the withdrawal letter to Returning Officer Sabirul Islam at 2:45pm on Sunday. GM Quader is also the Jatiya Party nominee for Rangpur-3. Meanwhile, JaPa aspirant Shafiqul Haque Sentu withdrew his candidacy from Dhaka-13,14. The Election Commission (EC) fixed Sunday as the deadline to withdraw nomination papers and distribution of electoral symbols among finalized candidates on December 18. The returning officers will allot the symbols on December 18. The candidates will then go on the campaign, which will continue till 8am on January 5. The national polls will be held on January 7.

ঢাকা-১৭ আসনের প্রার্থী ও জাতীয় পার্টির (জাপা) চেয়ারম্যান জি এম কাদের মনোনয়ন প্রত্যাহার করেছেন। তবে রংপুর-৩ সংসদীয় আসন থেকে মনোনয়ন ফরম সংগ্রহ করা রয়েছে জাপা চেয়ারম্যানের। রোববার (১৭ ডিসেম্বর) বেলা পৌনে ৩টার দিকে এই মনোনয়নপত্র প্রত্যাহার করা হয়। রাজধানীর সেগুনবাগিচায় ঢাকা রিটার্নিং কর্মকর্তার কার্যালয়ে জি এম কাদেরের পক্ষে মনোনয়ন প্রত্যাহার করে নেন জাতীয় পার্টির দপ্তর সম্পাদক এম এ রাজ্জাক খান। প্রসঙ্গত, গুলশান-বনানী ও ভাসানটেক এলাকা নিয়ে গঠিত ঢাকা-১৭ আসনের জন্য জাতীয় পার্টির চেয়ারম্যান জি এম কাদের মনোনয়নপত্র নিয়েছিলেন। একই সঙ্গে ঢাকা- ১৩ এবং ১৪ আসন থেকে মনোনয়ন প্রত্যাহার করেছেন জাতীয় পার্টির প্রার্থী শফিকুল ইসলাম সেন্টু। প্রসঙ্গত, দ্বাদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনের মনোনয়ন প্রত্যাহারের শেষ দিন আজ।
