Gold price reduced by Tk3,266 per bhori

The price of gold in the domestic market has been reduced by Tk 3,266 per bhori, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced on Wednesday (February 18).

The revised rates came into effect from 9:30am the same day, according to a press release.

BAJUS said the new pricing was set in line with a decline in the rate of acid gold (pure gold) in the local market.

Under the new rates, 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 2,55,558 per bhori. The price of 21-carat gold stands at Tk 2,43,953 per bhori, while 18-carat gold is priced at Tk 2,09,077 per bhori.

Gold of the traditional method is now being sold at Tk 1,71,111 per bhori.

The association also noted that the declared prices exclude a government-imposed 5% VAT and a minimum 6% making charge set by BAJUS. The final making charge may vary depending on design and quality of the jewellery.

Earlier, on the morning of February 17, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) revised gold prices in the domestic market, reducing the rate of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 per bhori to Tk 258,824. The new rates took effect from 10:00am that day.

At the time, 21-carat gold was fixed at Tk 2,47,044 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 2,11,760 per bhori, and gold of the traditional method at Tk 1,73,327 per bhori.

With the latest revision, gold prices have been adjusted 30 times in the domestic market so far this year — increased on 18 occasions and reduced 12 times. In 2025, prices were revised a total of 93 times, including 64 hikes and 29 reductions.

Meanwhile, silver prices have remained unchanged despite the latest cut in gold rates. Currently, 22-carat silver is being sold at Tk 6,357 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk 6,065, 18-carat silver at Tk 5,190, and silver of the traditional method at Tk 3,907 per bhori.

So far this year, silver prices have been adjusted 17 times — raised 10 times and reduced seven times. In 2025, silver prices were revised 13 times in total, with 10 increases and three decreases.
