Gold price sees sharp drop in Bangladesh
Gold prices in Bangladesh have been reduced again, with 22-carat gold now priced at Tk 2,54,625 per bhori (11.664 grams), down Tk 7,640 from the previous rate.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced that the new rates came into effect from 10:00am Thursday (March 19).
According to BAJUS, the decision follows a decline in the local market price of pure gold. The permanent committee on price determination and monitoring held a meeting and approved the reduction.
The update was later confirmed in an official notification signed by the committee chairman, Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.
New Gold Prices per Bhori:
22-carat: Tk 2,54,625
21-carat: Tk 2,43,020
18-carat: Tk 2,08,320
Traditional method: Tk 1,69,653
Silver prices have also been revised downward:
22-carat: Tk 5,715
21-carat: Tk 5,482
18-carat: Tk 4,666
Traditional method:Tk 3,499
BAJUS stated that the adjustment aligns gold and silver prices with current market conditions.
