Gold price surpasses Tk2 lakh per bhori

The price of gold in Bangladesh has surpassed Tk 200,000 per bhori for the first time, reaching Tk 200,725 for the finest quality, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

The new rates, announced on Monday (October 6), will take effect nationwide from Tuesday (October 7).

Just two days earlier, BAJUS had set the price at Tk 197,576 per bhori, marking a sharp Tk 3,150 increase within 48 hours.

Traders attribute the rise to continued volatility in the global gold market and the weakening of the local currency against the US dollar.
