Gono Odhikar Parishad rejects ISPR statement over attack on Nur
Gono Odhikar Parishad has strongly rejected the statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) regarding the recent attack on its president, Nurul Haque Nur, in the capital's Bijoynagar area.
At a press conference held on Sunday afternoon in front of the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), the party’s General Secretary Rashed Khan said the organization refuses to accept ISPR’s characterization of the incident.
“We reject the statement issued by ISPR following the attack. Labeling it as a ‘mob’ incident does not reflect the reality of what occurred,” Rashed Khan told reporters.
The incident occurred when a procession of Gono Odhikar Parishad was passing in front of the JaPa office. Later, several people, including Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque, were injured in baton charges by law enforcement personnel. The incident has sparked condemnation from various political and civil society groups.
