Government advances 14,384 primary teacher recruits joining date to October 1

The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has brought forward the joining date for 14,384 candidates selected under the 2025 Government Primary School Assistant Teacher Recruitment, following pressure from successful applicants demanding earlier appointments.

In an official order issued on Sunday (August 2), the ministry said the newly recruited teachers will report to their respective District Primary Education Offices on October 1.

Appointment letters will be issued to the selected candidates before the joining date. After reporting, they will be assigned to schools and subsequently undergo mandatory professional training, the ministry said.

The revised schedule comes just a day after the ministry announced that the recruits would join on October 29, a decision that triggered widespread dissatisfaction among candidates.

On Saturday night, successful applicants announced plans for continuous demonstrations, demanding that the government allow them to join within August.

The protesters launched a sit-in outside the National Museum in Shahbagh this morning, warning that the movement would continue until the government issued a revised appointment order with an earlier joining date.

Hours later, the ministry released the updated order, advancing the joining date by nearly a month.

The recruitment process began with a nationwide written examination on January 9 across 61 districts, excluding the three Chattogram Hill Tracts districts.

A total of 69,265 candidates qualified for the oral examination, after which the ministry published the final results on February 8, recommending 14,384 candidates for appointment as assistant teachers in government primary schools.
