Government appoints administrators to 14 more district councils

The government has appointed new administrators to 14 additional district councils across the country. The Local Government Division issued a notification in this regard on November 3.

The districts where appointments have been made are Dhaka, Gazipur, Manikganj, Narsingdi, Chandpur, Feni, Faridpur, Habiganj, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Pabna, Narail, Barguna and Jamalpur.

The notification stated that the appointments were made under the relevant sections of the District Council Act, 2000, in accordance with the District Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024. Until further instructions, they will serve as administrators for their respective districts.

The notification also mentioned that those appointed will exercise the powers and perform the duties of a district council chairman, and will receive allowances and other benefits as per the rules.

Issued with the approval of the appropriate authority, the order took immediate effect.
