Government declares three types of courts as special courts
The government has declared family appellate courts, child rape suppression tribunals and land survey appellate tribunals across the country as special courts.
The declaration was made under the powers conferred by the Special Courts Additional Duties Act, 2003, through a gazette notification issued by the Law and Justice Division in January. According to the notification issued on Monday, these courts and tribunals will function as district judge courts for civil cases and will be designated as special district judge courts.
For criminal cases, they will be treated as sessions courts and known as special sessions judge courts. All family appellate courts, child rape suppression tribunals and land survey appellate tribunals nationwide fall under this declaration.
