Government has paid off foreign debt worth $90.66 million in 100 days: Mahdi Amin
The foreign debt worth $90.66 million has been paid off in the first 100 days of the current BNP government, said Prime Minister's Advisor and Office Spokesperson Dr. Mahdi Amin.
He gave this information at a press conference organized at the Prime Minister's Office to mark the completion of '100 days of the government' on Monday (May 25).
Mahdi Amin said that the current government is working to implement priority-based election promises.
He also said that the government is determined to ensure freedom of the media and expression. However, taking advantage of this, a group is spreading rumors and propaganda against the government and spreading misleading information about important people, which is contrary to the aspirations of the people.
He said that work is underway to implement the economic corridor from Teknaf to Tetulia. In addition, initiatives have been taken to provide state identity cards to about two lakh freelancers in the country, and a special fund of Tk 60,000 crore has been announced to reopen closed factories and boost the economy.
He also announced plans to launch 250 eco-friendly electric buses to reduce air pollution in Dhaka. He also mentioned that initiatives are being taken to ease the movement of pedestrians by removing illegal structures from the sidewalks and rehabilitating hawkers.
Mahdi Amin also said that agreements have already been signed with three out of 10 countries to return money laundered abroad.
