The government has increased the monthly honorarium allowances and various financial benefits for Bir Muktijoddhas, families of martyred Bir Muktijoddhas, and wounded Bir Muktijoddhas. The new allowance structure will take effect from July 1, 2026. This was announced in a notification issued recently by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

The notification said the amounts of festival allowances, medical allowances, and special grants given on Victory Day and Bengali New Year have also been increased. The decision was made under the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Kalyan Trust Act, 2018, and its related rules.

According to the new structure, Bir Uttam recipients will receive a monthly honorarium allowance of Tk 30,000. They will also receive a festival allowance of Tk 10,000, Tk 5,000 on Victory Day and Tk 2,000 on Bengali New Year. Bir Bikram and Bir Protik recipients will receive a monthly allowance of Tk 25,000, with the same festival, Victory Day and Bengali New Year benefits.

Families of martyred Bir Muktijoddhas will receive a monthly honorarium allowance of Tk 23,000, a medical allowance of Tk 2,000, a food allowance of Tk 5,000, a festival allowance of Tk 23,000 and Tk 2,000 on Bengali New Year. Allowances for wounded Bir Muktijoddhas have been set according to four categories of disability: Category 'A' (96–100 percent disability) will receive Tk 30,000, Category 'B' (61–95 percent) will receive Tk 28,000, Category 'C' (20–60 percent) will receive Tk 23,000, and Category 'D' (1–19 percent) will receive Tk 20,000 per month.

The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Dr Mu Asaduzzaman of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, said the allowances and benefits have been increased to further strengthen the financial security and social dignity of freedom fighters and their families. The government hopes this new initiative will play a positive role in improving the living standards of freedom fighter families.
