Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said the government is making all-out efforts to tackle the energy crisis. The crisis in the power and energy sectors was created due to unplanned decisions taken in the past. The current government is doing its utmost to protect the country and its people from this crisis.

He made the remarks at a doctors' rally organised by the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) on the occasion of its 37th founding anniversary at the LD Hall of the Jatiya Sangsad on Saturday.

The Prime Minister said the beneficiaries of fascism in the state, politics and administration are not sitting idle. This group is actively working to destabilise the country's energy and power sector through various tactics, and they are spreading misleading information about this sector.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr Zubaidah Rahman planted saplings of neem and arjun trees on the LD Hall premises of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. The Prime Minister later formally inaugurated the doctors' rally by hoisting the national and party flags and releasing balloons and pigeons.

Speaking at the rally, the Prime Minister said the government has not denied that the people are currently facing power, gas and energy shortages. However, the country, its people and the government are now paying the price for the unplanned initiatives taken earlier to provide special benefits to certain institutions.

He said, "You know that the current government inherited a fragile situation. We have already started various initiatives to overcome that situation and address the various crises. Plans are being made to gradually bring the people out of the gas, power and energy crisis."

Earlier, the doctors' rally began with recitation from the Holy Quran and doa. Leaders, activists and doctors from various parts of the country participated in the rally.

The rally was chaired by DAB President Professor Dr Harun Al Rashid. Among those who spoke were BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the Prime Minister's wife Dr Zubaidah Rahman, Social Welfare Minister Professor Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain, Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain, and DAB General Secretary Dr Md Zahirul Islam Shakil.
