Government reconstitutes Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust Executive Committee
The government has reconstituted the nine-member Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust in a move aimed at strengthening the trust's governance and enhancing welfare services for freedom fighters and their families.
According to a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs on Monday (July 27), the committee has been reconstituted under Section 13 of the Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust Act, 2018.
Under the new structure, Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan will serve as the chairman of the Executive Committee.
The ministry said the reconstituted body will be responsible for formulating policy decisions, overseeing welfare programmes for freedom fighters and their families, and supervising the trust's overall administrative activities.
The committee also includes State Minister for Liberation War Affairs and MP for Dhaka-6 Ishraque Hossain, MP for Kishoreganj-4 Md Fazlur Rahman, MP for Cumilla-6 Md Monirul Haque Chowdhury, and MP for Noakhali-2 Zainul Abdin Farroque as members.
In addition, the Finance Secretary, Education Secretary, and Liberation War Affairs Secretary will serve as ex-officio members of the committee, while the Managing Director of the Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust will act as the member secretary.
Officials expressed hope that the newly reconstituted committee would accelerate the trust's development initiatives and strengthen welfare programmes for freedom fighters and their families.
