Government wants to spread spirit of July uprising: PM's Adviser

Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman has said the government embodies the July uprising. The government wants to spread the spirit of the uprising among the people.

He made these remarks at a press briefing on Tuesday at the Secretariat regarding the progress of various government activities.

Zahed Ur Rahman said the main programmes marking the anniversary of the July uprising are under the Ministry of Culture and Liberation War Affairs. The details will be announced later at the briefing.

He informed that on the initiative of the Liberation War Ministry, prayers and recitation of Fateha will be held on July 16 at the graves of the July martyrs in Rayerbazar in the morning. A discussion meeting and a commemorative supplement will be published in memory of Abu Sayeed at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur.

The adviser said 'Resistance Day' will be observed at private universities. Along with this, 'Resistance Day' will be observed by madrasa students and a reception will be organised on August 5 for the July fighters and families of the July martyrs.

He said important events took place on July 15. On that day, Chhatra League attacked students at the university and many female students were seriously injured. Later, on July 16, Abu Sayeed was martyred.

Zahed Ur Rahman said BNP has a very important role in the July uprising. The current Prime Minister had been involved with it from the very beginning.

He said it will be observed with due dignity. Not just observance, but we are trying to repeat the point that we want to spread among the people the spirit that led to the July uprising.
